Things I like this month - December 2024

'Things I Like This Month,' is a monthly newsletter where I share things I genuinely like or that stood out to me and felt worth talking about.

Everything you read in this article is my honest opinion, and nothing is paid for. I’m always excited to see new quality products and discover new brands or makers, so I’m always very happy when you guys send me suggestions or something you think I might like.

BMW M3 GTR from Need For Speed Most Wanted video game

BMW M3 GTR from Need For Speed Most Wanted video game

I have spent countless hours playing Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Imagine 13-year-old Suzan in his imaginary world, running from the police in a pimped-out car. It's a beautiful thing to see it come full circle 19 years later, with BMW creating an actual replica of the car from the game. They paid great attention to detail, using an original BMW M3 GTR from 2001 to celebrate 30 years of the Need for Speedfranchise. The BMW M3 GTR, built by BMW M Motorsport, is now on display at BMW Welt in Munich.

Poszetka Everyday Classic Magazine

Poszetka Everyday Classic Magazine

This is their first printed publication, and it’s not just about clothes or Poszetka itself - it’s a mix of articles, interviews, and reports in both English and Polish, written by invited guests and industry experts. The magazine focuses on a broad range of lifestyle topics - travel, clothing, architecture, cars, as well as their beloved city of Katowice, which they proudly introduce in this first issue. It’s 128 pages of insightful reading! If you’re not familiar with Poszetka or want to learn more about this Polish brand, you can read this article about my experience during a two-day visit to their showroom in Katowice.

Max Sauveur Springfield Boots

Max Sauveur Springfield Boots

These boots from Max Sauveur are perfect for casual wear, and their silhouette works well with many different styles. They pair easily with a Western-inspired outfit, military looks, an Ivy League aesthetic, or even a clean, modern style. The beige suede makes them incredibly versatile—they should work with anything that isn’t black. And commando sole is perfect for icy winter days. They come in two colorways and are made in Portugal.

Sartolane Casual Shoper

Sartolane Casual Shoper

Something very handy that most of us need almost every day, but it’s not easy to find - the perfect shopping bag. Sartolane just released their version, called the Casual Shopper. Crafted from a lightweight, durable blend of 50% cotton and 50% linen, it also features a functional inner pocket with a zipper. The 36x39cm size is perfect for carrying daily essentials, while also being small enough to fit in a larger bag without taking up too much space. It comes in 3 different variations.

The Squarzi Archive Book

The Squarzi Archive Book

More reading material for cold winter evenings spent under a warm blanket on your sofa. This is something every menswear or workwear enthusiast will be interested in. The Squarzi Archive is a book that will take you through the historic wardrobe of Alessandro Squarzi, an Italian style icon. It tells the story of a collection of more than 350 vintage pieces from the 1920s to the 1980s, with each piece documented with a photo!

Navy Herringbone overcoats

Left: Berg & Berg - NELSON Tweed Raglan Coat in Navy
Right: Document - Donegal Tweed Oversized Balmacaan Coat - Navy

The herringbone pattern makes a navy overcoat so much more interesting and vibrant. It’s a perfect way to add some character, and in my opinion, it works much better with casual outfits. I have nothing against plain wool overcoats, they definitely have their place and work great with tailoring, but for casual outfits, they can feel a bit plain and boring. Here are my two favorite versions from Berg & Berg and Document.

Molequin UltraSlim Watch Case

Molequin UltraSlim Watch Case

I was searching for different options and price ranges for watch rolls when I came across this UltraSlim Case by Molequin. I think it’s a beautiful, perfectly executed case, while also being very well-priced. It’s different from most other options on the market, but it looks great and seems even more portable than regular watch rolls. The Alcantara interior provides a perfect, cozy, and safe bed for your watches. They are available in many different colors and come in sizes to fit 1, 2, 4, or 8 watches. Molequin is a Belgian brand specializing in watch accessories, primarily watch straps and cases, and they also produce other small leather goods. All their products are crafted in France.

Jacques Soloviere Paris Rasmus Lug Nut

Jacques Soloviere Paris Rasmus Lug Nut

I must admit, I’m a sucker for nice footwear, but I’m also very nitpicky when it comes to shapes and proportions, so it’s not often that I find something I think looks great, especially if it’s not a more traditional style. So I was really happy when I saw this model. I think it’s a perfectly executed interpretation of a traditional mountaineering boot, designed to fit into our current lifestyle. The proportions are spot on! The toe box is just right - not too pointy, not too round, and the sole is the perfect height in proportion to the upper, so the shoe isn’t too bulky or modern-looking. They’ve created a modern silhouette that looks timeless, which is rare in modern design, and I applaud them for this. I think this is a perfect winter shoe for casual outfits! They come in many different colors and also in a high-top boot version!

Horatio London Ballogie Rollneck

Horatio London Ballogie Rollneck

I love nice knitwear, but unfortunately, most of it comes in a cut that, in my opinion, is too long. I know this is to satisfy most customers - who don’t wear high-rise trousers. But if you usually wear high-rise trousers, you know how annoying this is. You can always make it look almost perfect by tucking it in, but if it’s too long or too thick, it can look really bad - so, this trick doesn’t work with all knitwear. That’s why I’m really excited when I see brands offering styles with a shorter body length. Usually, 'shorter' means just a few cm, which is better, but Horatio London made this rollneck in the perfect length to wear with high-rise trousers. The length in my size is 5cm shorter than the shortest sweater I could find, and more than 10cm shorter than the average length in my size. It’s made in Scotland and comes in 10 different colorways.

Heritage 9.1 socks

Heritage 9.1 socks

I came across this small Italian brand born out of a passion for quality socks made the way they were 'back in the day.' They make socks with a vintage aesthetic - I especially like the Vintage 1980 line because it’s clean and works perfectly with any style. Their socks are made with 50 years of expertise in Italian craftsmanship, and they’ve recreated socks that look, feel, and wear like they did 50 years ago.

Senkels Artisanal Shoelaces

Senkels Artisanal Shoelaces

We pay a lot of attention to shoes but often forget about the laces, which are usually not the same quality as the shoes themselves. This is how the idea for Senkels Shoelaces was born. They are an Austrian brand founded by a young shoemaker, and they make all their laces locally. You can choose from flat, round, and leather shoelaces in a variety of colors. So, if you want to step up your shoe game, I think laces can definitely help!
