Things I like this month - March 2025
'Things I Like This Month,' is a monthly newsletter where I share things I genuinely like or that stood out to me and felt worth talking about.
Everything you read in this article is my honest opinion, and nothing is paid for. I’m always excited to see new quality products and discover new brands or makers, so I’m always very happy when you guys send me suggestions or something you think I might like.
Poszetka Navy Peached Cotton Field Jacket
The jungle jacket is a timeless piece, but because it’s a military jacket it’s mostly available in olive green and has a strong military appeal. If you make a few subtle changes - like choosing a finer fabric and changing the color to navy, this jacket transforms into a completely different garment. It’s made with heavier cotton to make it suitable for colder weather. They also added an inner pocket to make it even more practical. It feels much more subtle and sartorial. It works with jeans and a t-shirt for a casual look, or with an oxford shirt and tailored trousers for a smarter look. You can easily wear it over a sportscoat.
grds loafer 01 in brown suede
I often get asked if there is an affordable alternative to Alden LHS snuff suede loafers—in shape, comfort, and color. Recently, I finally found a model that I think is worth sharing. These loafers are made in Italy from unlined suede with Blake stitch construction. The length of the vamp is shortened, and the toebox is rounded to create a casual aesthetic. They are called “Loafer 01” and are made by the Korean brand grds. The price is 390,000 Korean won, which comes to just under 250€.
The name "grds" comes from the Latin word "gradus," meaning "step." The brand values walking as an important and enriching part of life. They focus on designing well-crafted shoes to improve comfort and support while walking.
Updated Sartolane Suede Tote
Sartolane has updated their Suede Tote. It’s now about 2-3 cm wider, has 1-2 cm more depth, and is 1-2 cm taller. It now offers just a little more storage room, but if I didn’t tell you, you probably wouldn’t even notice - at least not visually. Or maybe you would if you own a 15" or 16” laptop. They made this change to better fit larger laptops. They also changed the zipper, and the leather handles are now made from pebble-grain leather, making them feel softer and more comfortable to hold.
The most noticeable visual change is in the leather details on the bottom edges of the bag. Before, the edges were protected by two pieces of leather sewn in between. Now, they are covered with just one piece of leather, giving the bag a cleaner look. With these small changes, it is now a perfect tote.
Moonstar x Buck Mason Dark indigo Deck Shoes
Moonstar is a Japanese brand that has been making shoes for over 150 years in Kurume, Japan—a city known for its long history of expert rubber manufacturing. It’s hard to find better quality sneakers with rubber soles than those made in that region.
Their collaborative collection with Buck Mason has been running for a couple of seasons now. There are currently nine colorways available, with Indigo being the newest addition. It’s a perfect shade to pair with white trousers, chinos, or even washed blue jeans. They are especially great for the summer months on days when you wear very bright clothes but want to create an interesting contrast with your shoes.
Colhays Riviera shirt
With this shirt, Colhay’s is moving into new territory - adding a new style to their knitwear line. It combines French luxury with Japanese craftsmanship. Made from the finest linen fibers grown in Normandy, it is breathable and has a luxurious feel, which is perfect for hot weather. Crafted in Japan with a focus on details and fit. Designed for a relaxed, roomy fit with a holiday vibe in mind. It's available in navy and olive, making it also suitable for smarter settings when worn with smart trousers and a sportscoat.
Merz B. Schwanen Ribbed Tank Top
When it gets warmer, I love the aesthetic of an unbuttoned shirt worn over a ribbed tank top. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy to find a quality tank top, but now a brand that makes some of the best t-shirts in the world has finally made their own version. They’ve been working on it for quite some time to make sure the details and fit are just how they want them - and the end product is a well-made, classic ribbed tank top made in Portugal. This will definitely be my staple from now on!
Myrqvist Haga Dark Snuff Suede Chukka Boots
I will start by saying that product photos don’t do these shoes justice! These are classic, unlined Chukka boots made on a more casual last with a rounder toe box - still very elegant but not too pointy, so they work well with smarter looks too. I would call this shape perfect for effortless elegance. (Definitely one of the best Chukka shapes on the market!) They are unlined, so super comfortable from day one, and come on a rubber sole, which provides better grip and makes them more suitable for bad weather. They will also probably last a bit longer than leather soles.
Rubato - Drop I
Rubato released their first Spring-Summer drop, and with it came a restock of one of my favorite summer shirts - the 'R' Shirt in New Haven Blue Oxford. This sky blue color and two flap chest pockets make this shirt the perfect piece to wear on warm days. It will really shine when you take off your jacket or when it’s warm enough to wear it open over a tank top. And now they also make it in pink! They've dropped a few new pieces as well, including a Roper Shirt in Light Blue Chambray - another classic that’s perfect for spring and summer! There are also new spring knits and trousers worth checking out.
