Why I started Outfit Narrative

I think that’s the question I get most often, together with styling advice and specific product recommendations, especially when I chat with other menswear enthusiasts in person. I have to give a lot of credit to my girlfriend, who was (and often still is) tired of all my ideas, information, and details about style and clothes that I always share with her. One day she said that while she’s happy to see me so passionate about it, she’s not really that interested in menswear. So she suggested that maybe I should share it with the world and other like minded people who would appreciate such in-depth discussions. That’s why I created my Instagram account. About a year later I created the website for a similar reason. And again, a lot of credit goes to my girlfriend. This time she said, "Why do you talk about style, clothing, and the history behind it so much, but then you only post outfits and sometimes quick thoughts on stories? Why wouldn’t you write all that down? I’m sure there are people who would be interested in reading it and sharing their opinions with you." That’s how the website came to life. Thinking about it now, it seems that I sometimes really need a kick in the butt to get moving!

The main reason I'm doing this is to share what I'm passionate about — my ideas and thoughts: what I think can benefit others, what I believe in, and what I stand behind. With my personal approach to casual, timeless style (and occasionally a bit more formal), I want to show people that classic menswear doesn't have to be so serious and boring. You don't always have to wear a suit to look smart or elegant, nor do you need to smoke expensive cigars and drink the finest bourbon to be considered a menswear enthusiast.

I want to show that personal style is a journey, and it will change along with you and the different chapters of your life. In your personal style, similar to your life journey, you will sometimes make mistakes and that's fine. Just make sure you learn something from them. Be open to trying new things, and don't be afraid to experiment. I share all of this because I enjoy discussing clothes and style, and I'm always open to comments, suggestions and feedback. Sometimes we break rules, and sometimes we disagree — which is fine. Many aspects of style are a matter of personal taste. That's the beauty of the whole menswear community: hearing different opinions and sharing personal perspectives and thoughts. For example, I don't like black suede shoes but maybe you do and that’s great (as long as you don't wear them with washed blue jeans!).

I'm also doing this is to show that well-made products don't have to be very expensive. It bothers me that most people today think good quality means expensive luxury brands, which is unfortunately very far from the truth. Forty to fifty years ago it was a lot harder to find poorly made clothes, today the situation is completely opposite. Mainstream shops and brands mostly sell poorly made clothes under well-known logos. Many of these brands, which previously produced quality garments, have since switched to lower-quality production to optimize profits. Sadly the average person today is not informed about this, and mostly doesn't really care. Even those who do care often struggle to find the information they seek in the sea of information online. With my platform I want to provide one more trustworthy option for all people who want to do better. There are still many independent brands that care about the quality of their products, the well-being of their people, and the environment. I want to highlight these brands so more people learn about them. And if this can also help these brands, even better!

I also want to remind my readers daily that no matter how nice or expensive your wardrobe is, it won’t help you if you don’t feel good in your own skin. That’s why I share my daily training routine and write about my approach to healthy lifestyle. I hope it will inspire others and help them understand that this should be a non-negotiable part of everyone’s life. Especially in today’s world where we are surrounded by so much information 24/7, both at work and in private life. Most of us are online all the time, even when we don’t need to be. So it's harder than ever before to switch off and clear our heads. We also sit more than people did in any part of human history. This is taking a toll on society's mental health even though many understand its importance. I want to emphasize that it's important to go offline often—stay active, find solitude, and connect with loved ones for your well-being. And yes this platform is mainly about clothes and style, but none of that matters if we don't feel well physically and mentally. This is what I believe in and who I am.

In the end, I really enjoy sharing what I like, my styling ideas, quality products and brands, and new launches with all of you, but also hearing your thoughts and opinions. My goals for this platform are growing each year, and I’m excited to see what the future brings. Let me know what you enjoy most on my platform or if there is a topic you would love to see more of.
