Things I like this month - November 2024
This is the first 'Things I Like This Month,' an article based on my monthly newsletter where I share things I genuinely like or that stood out to me and felt worth talking about.
Everything you read in this article is my honest opinion, and nothing is paid for. I’m always excited to see new quality products and discover new brands or makers, so I’m always very happy when you guys send me suggestions or something you think I might like.
Tudor - Pelagos FXD GMT “Zulu Time”
Since the 1950s, TUDOR has been the official supplier of diving watches to the Marine Nationale (French Navy). The Pelagos FXD was originally developed with a French Navy specialist unit, and this new version now includes a feature for French Naval Aviation that lets aviators and crew track "Zulu time," local time, and a third time zone. I really like this watch and think it has the perfect military aesthetic. But I also think the size of the Pelagos is too big to look sleek on the wrist when worn with casual clothes. I know these watches are designed for a specific purpose, but most are sold to regular people who wear them casually. In that case, I think the Pelagos 39 is a much better size.
Harley of Scotland - Shetland Eton Collar Sweater
A new knitwear model this season: wonderful Shetland Eton Collar Sweater. This version is chunky enough that it provides the same effect as shetland sweater, but with the polo collar it looks just a bit more elegant. And to me the combination of the fit, fabric and style, makes it a perfect element if you want to look relaxed but elegant. It’s available in many colors and should already be in stock at their retailers.
Poszetka - Prince of Wales check Gray Undyed Wool Sportcoat
I have been wearing this jacket often for the past couple of weeks because it’s so versatile and looks great. Last month, Poszetka released their fall collection, which included all the menswear staples. But last week, for the first time after 14 years of offering classic sartorial pieces, they released their first workwear collection. Now, they cover basically everything a man needs. There are still some areas where they could improve their selection, but it’s impressive to watch their progress.
Rocky Mountain Featherbed - Red Down Vest
Classic down vest with suede details from Thee Rocky Mountain Featherbed. It has everything I look for in a vest: it's padded just enough to be worn instead of a jacket, the suede details add a touch of elegance, and it comes in this perfect shade of bright red to brighten up your outfit.
Bennett and Winch - Suede Collection
All their bags are now available in a suede version - perfectly executed in tobacco suede. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but it probably depends on your needs. One thing is certain, though: you can never go wrong with a tote bag or a weekender.
I have another idea - during colder months, a suit carrier holdall can be super practical, even if you don’t wear a suit. You can easily pack another jacket or two, or even an extra coat, without taking up space in your main bag!
Superstitch Paris - LR02 Natural Jeans
I think I finally found the perfect high-rise ecru jeans! Superstitch Paris has released their LR02 jeans in a natural color, made in Japan from cotton woven to maintain the same touch and feel as the original indigo fabric. It doesn’t get better than this.
J.Press for Buck Mason
Buck Mason and J.Press released a collaborative fall collection, and it’s a perfect take on Ivy style. A standout piece is definitely the tweed sportcoat, but you can also find a duffle coat made by Gloverall, a classic navy blazer with gold buttons, white jeans, several Shetland sweaters, and some shirts and t-shirts. It’s a well-executed collection, and everything is made in the USA, except, of course, the Gloverall coat.
Fob Factory F2361 Riding Jacket
I had my eye on this jacket since last winter, but back then I thought, 'I already have 2 Barbours, no need for another similar jacket.' But I’m a big fan of jackets in that style, and I couldn’t get that olive moleskin and brown corduroy combination out of my head. It’s my first item from FOB Factory, and I had certain expectations because it’s a Japanese brand. And honestly, it exceeded my expectations. It’s heavier than expected and very well crafted. Sometimes, buying online can be tricky, but after checking and comparing measurements with my current jackets, I nailed the sizing, and I really couldn’t be happier with it.
877 WORKSHOP - Rings
877 WORKSHOP was founded by Sylvia and Daniel Janssen in 2012 and is based in Hamburg, Germany. Their motto is "WE MAKE COOL SHIT WITH OLD TOOLS." They love almost forgotten crafts and techniques, creating vintage-inspired yet modern designs. They make high-quality casual goods for men using only the best materials. They make everything by hand, and you can feel their passion in the products. I haven't tried their products yet, but they're now at the top of my list of rings to try.
