Ultimate Spring Training Clothes and Gear

Summer is getting closer so many people start to work out again, to feel and look better during warmer months or in their swimwear. Those that are activewear is Many buy new workout outfits to be more motivated for working out. I already wrote a post about more ethical sportswear brands, but now I would like to offer you some inspiration for your training outfits as well.

Workout gear is simple. You need a pair of shorts, a t-shirt or a tank top and a pair of sneakers and you are good to go. It gets the job done, but for many people that is not enough. And I am one of those people. When I started going to the gym I did not really care much about what I wore, the only thing important to me was to give my all in training. But as time went by and I needed another pair of shorts or a new tank and I found myself getting more and more picky. As my training became a vital part of my life I wanted to feel even better and more confident in the gym, so what I wear started to matter. I wanted to wear things that make me feel good but that I am also very comfortable wearing. I started paying more attention to how colour coordinated my outfits are. Most of my shorts are black, because most colours work with black so it is easier to pair. All of my t-shirts or vests are monochromatic. So basically all my workout clothes work together and I don’t have to think too much what to put on because everything works together. This is one of the options.

If you prefer more specific styles or prints, you will have to be more selective to get clothing that matches. Luckily most of the sportswear brands make most of the clothing in matching sets or collections, so you don’t have to put in too much effort to get a perfect matching set. I will give you some of my favourite options from the current selection.

Gym attire

These two fits should work for any of type of training or working out. You have a pair of shorts with layers on top, so you are good to go on colder spring mornings or warmest sunny afternoons. Add a pair of stable training sneakers and you are ready for any challenge.

Easy/Long run

When it comes to a long run the most important thing is that you feel as lights and comfortable as it gets and that you choose the right pair of sneakers with enough cushioning so your legs won’t get beat up too much. The first fit is more retro and the other is a lot more modern which you can recognise from the fit to materials and colours.

Speed session

The first option is more toned down with light blue-black combination. Here you also have a hydration vest if you plan to have a longer session. Electric sneakers give extra energy to a speed session. If you prefer louder colours the red jacket should be perfect for a spring morning speed session. Beneath you have a white long sleeve tee for when the sun shows up and a simple all black fit with a vest for a very warm session. Can’t go wrong with a nice white pair of sneakers.

Trail/Long run

For trail run I chose more monochromatic looks. In the first one you can almost blend with nature and with the second one you will stand out. Add a backpack if you need to carry all your running essentials to a specific location, if not only a vest should be enough to carry everything you need.

Good activewear selection can motivate you to be more active or just help you feel good while you train. It depends if you feel better in colours or in more monochromatic looks but I would suggest to always start with more basic colour palette and build from there. Darker shorts will go with almost any t-shirt or tank top and you can never go wrong with a neutral white pair of sneakers. Those of you that wish to wear more colourful training fits can opt for brighter monochromatic looks or just add one colourful piece like a jacket or sneakers.
